COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s golf team fired a 325 Friday in the opening round of the Mercedes-Benz Classic at the par-72 Gettysvue Polo, Golf and Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. The Buckeyes currently stand in 16th place. Georgia leads the competition by three strokes over South Carolina after firing a nine-over par 297.

Mollie Fankhauser (Fr., Dublin, Ohio) paced the Buckeyes Friday with an 80, while seniors Amber Amstutz (Leo, Ind.) and Lisa Strom (North Wales, Pa.) each registered an 82.

The tournament resumes Saturday morning and runs through Sunday.
