Ohio State comes up three strokes shy at one-day, 18-hole event
COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State women’s golf team was defeated by Florida Atlantic Sunday in the Naples Challenge, a one-day, 18-hole match hosted by OSU in Naples, Fla. The Buckeyes shot a team score of 318 on the par 72, 6,300-yard Creek Course at Quail Creek Country Club to come up three strokes shy of the Owls.
Florida Atlantic took both the team and individual titles in the dual, recording a team score of 315 and placing Kim D’Andrea first with a score of even par (72). Team scores for the event included the Top 4 individual scores from each squad.
The top finisher for the Buckeyes was Emma Jandel. The sophomore from Dayton, Ohio, carded a 76 (+4) to place second. Senior Carling Coffing, of Middletown, Ohio, finished two strokes back from her teammate with a 78 to place third.
Also competing for Ohio State were juniors Gemma Webster (82), Jessica Hauser (83) and Jennifer Cassidy (87). Senior Haley Brown competed as an individual at the dual match recording a score of 82.
The Buckeyes will next compete March 17-18 at the Betsy Rawls Invitational in Austin, Texas.
