COLUMBUS, Ohio Ohio State junior forward Star Allen (Columbus, Ohio/Independence) has regained her eligibility and will be able to participate for the Buckeyes in the upcoming NCAA tournament.
Allen sat out winter quarter to concentrate on academics. She remained on the Buckeye roster and was permitted to practice with the team throughout the term.
Allen missed 18 games during the winter quarter as the Buckeyes went 13-5 in her absence on their way to a fourth-consecutive Big Ten regular-season title. Those five losses were by an average of 5.6 points.
A preseason All-Big Ten selection and second-team choice last year, Allen started 10-of-12 games this season, averaging 8.6 points and 7.1 rebounds, including two double-doubles. Last year she led the Big Ten in field goal percentage (.625) and established a Big Ten record for field goal percentage in conference games, netting 84-121 tries for a .694 clip.
The No. 25 Buckeyes (22-8) await an at-large selection to the 2008 NCAA Tournament, which is announced at 7 p.m. ET tonight on ESPN.
