COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State women’s lacrosse team topped Louisville 15-12 Saturday afternoon at the U of L Lacrosse Stadium.

Louisville scored the first four goals of the game, before the Buckeyes brought the score to 6-6 by halftime. Louisville led as much as 10-7, before Ohio State scored the next seven goals en route to the eventual win.

Freshman Alayna Markwordt led the Buckeyes in scoring with three goals and four assists; freshman Gabby Capuzzi also added three goals in the close contest. Kelly Haggerty (2 goals, 3 assists), Maghan Beaudrault (2 goals), Rachel Hawes (2 goals), Lauren Sterner (2 goals) and Jayme Beard (1 goal) were also in the scoring column for the Buckeyes. Goalie Kristen Gilwee, now 6-1, had 11 saves against the Cardinals.

No. 18 Ohio State, now 6-1, returns to action Sunday, March 22, at Duquesne for a 1 p.m. match. Louisville’s record is now 4-1.
