No. 8-seed Ohio State among 21 teams playing 18 holes each day Thursday-Saturday
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Wednesday is the practice round for the NCAA Central Regional, but before the Buckeyes teed off members of the Ohio State women’s golf team previewed the tournament held this Thursday-Saturday on OSU Golf Club’s Scarlet Course. Ohio State is the eighth-seed in the 21-team field and action begins with 8 a.m. tee times each day.
Along with head coach Therese Hession, senior co-captain Gemma Webster, sophomore In Hong Lim and freshman Vicky Villanueva each recorded video interviews about making the NCAA field and hosting the event on their home course.
The last time the team competed on Scarlet, Ohio State won the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational by 10 strokes, April 18-19. Lim took medalist honors and both Villanueva and Webster finished in the Top 10. The following weekend, Villanueva was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year — the sixth Buckeye to receive the honor.
