COLUMBUS, Ohio – Following the final weekend of league action, the tournament bracket has been set for the 2005 Western Collegiate Hockey Association Women’s Playoff Championship. The tournament will be held Thursday through Sunday at Ridder Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minn. This season marks the first year the championship will feature all eight conference teams.

No. 4 seed Ohio State and No. 5 seed Minnesota State will meet for the second-consecutive season in the first game of the playoffs. The Buckeyes and Mavericks will be facing off in their third-consecutive game Friday, as the teams are coming off a two-game series in Columbus, Ohio, last weekend. OSU secured its fourth seed in the WCHA tournament with a split vs. MSU Feb. 25-26. OSU went 3-1 against Minnesota State this season.

The tournament begins Thursday with quarterfinal action with No. 7 seed North Dakota taking on No. 2 Minnesota-Duluth at 5:05 p.m. EST followed by No. 1 Minnesota facing No. 8 Bemidji State at 8:05 p.m. EST. The quarterfinal games Friday feature No. 6 St. Cloud State battling No. 3 Wisconsin at 5:05 p.m. EST and No. 4 Ohio State facing No. 5 seed Minnesota State at 8:05 p.m. EST. The semifinals will be played Saturday at 5:05 p.m. and 8:05 p.m. EST. The third place and championship games will take place Sunday at 2:05 p.m. EST and 5:05 p.m. EST, respectively.
