Freshman scored 19 points and dished out six assists in the loss to Final Four-bound Stanford
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Big Ten freshman of the year Samantha Prahalis was named to the 2009 Berkeley Regional All-Tournament Team late Monday night.
The freshman from Commack, N.Y., scored a team-high 19 points, dished out six assists and had two steals in the loss to No. 2 seed Stanford, who is headed to the Final Four for the second consecutive season. Prahalis scored 12 points in a first half that saw the lead change hands 11 times before Ohio State trailed by only two, 37-35, at halftime. In the second half, Ohio State trailed by 11 before Prahalis helped trim Stanford’s lead to 66-62 with 5 minutes left.
Prahalis averaged 16.7 points, 5.7 assists and shot 78 percent (18-of-23) from the free throw line during the three NCAA tournament games. She scored a career-high 23 points in the first round win over Sacred Heart March 21.
