COLUMBUS, Ohio Ohio State women’s basketball coach Jim Foster has announced the signing of Aleksandra Dobranic, a 6-foot, 4-inch forward/center from Novi Sad, Serbia, to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Buckeyes beginning next season.
Dobranic is a member of the Serbian Junior National Team. In 2008 she was selected to the junior team that competed in The Balkan Championship in Romania in December 2008. She also competed in the 2008 European Championships in Slovakia where the team placed sixth. In 2007, she helped her national team to a fourth-place finish at the European Championships in Letonia.
Her club team’s included Radivoj Korac in Belgrade, Serbia (2008-present), Vojvodina in Novi Sad (2006-2008) and Gimanazija in Kikinda, Serbia from 2002-2005.
Dobranic is the fourth member of the Buckeyes’ 2009-10 recruiting class. She joins Ohio standouts Emilee Harmon, a 6-2 forward and 2009 Associated Press Ohio Co-Player of the Year from Pickerington Central High School, Brianna Sanders, a 5-foot, 11-inch guard from Princeton High School in Cincinnati and Tayler Hill, a McDonald’s All-American and the two-time Gatorade Player of the Year from Minneapolis South.
