COLUMBUS, Ohio — Members of the women’s basketball team took part in the third annual Shootin’ Hoops Girl Scout Clinic this past Saturday morning at the Adventure Recreation Center in Columbus.

More than 160 scouts took part in the clinic where Buckeye student-athletes taught fundamental skills such as ball handling, passing, footwork, shooting, one-on-one drills and rebounding. The clinic was broken down into three age groups: Brownies, Juniors and Cadets.

Ball handling drills were taught by Samantha Prahalis and Amber Stokes, passing with Maria Moeller and Sarah Schulze, footwork with Brittany Johnson and Cherise Daniel, shooting with Alison Jackson and Jantel Lavender, one-one-one drills with Shavelle Little and rebounding with Star Allen and Andrea Walker.

“I really enjoy coming and interacting with kids,” Johnson said. “I remember when I was little and how much I used to love it when people that I looked up to came and either spoke to us or gave us instruction. So it feels good to be able to do things like this and to give back.”

Afterwards, the Buckeyes took group photos and signed autographs for the scouts.
