COLUMBUS, Ohio — Graduated seniors Cameron Heyward and Dexter Larimore left two giant holes on the defensive front from last year’s squad. Thankfully, co-defensive coordinators Paul Haynes and Jim Heacock have two big and talented bodies ready to fill those gaps in true sophomore Johnathan Hankins (aka Big Hank) and redshirt sophomore Adam Bellamy.
Hankins is stacked with size and potential brings a rare blend of size and speed at 6-3, 335 pounds. Last season he earned a spot in the D-line rotation as a true freshman, recording 16 tackles before winning the outstanding first-year defensive player award from the coaching staff.
Bellamy played in all 13 games in 2010 behind John Simon at tackle in the defensive line rotation, recording 11 tackles, including 2.0 TFL.
“We’ve only got a couple of weeks left until we’re out in front of 105,000,” Bellamy said. “So right now we’re full steam ahead and foaming at the mouth on every play.”
