COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State senior Lindsey Vagedes (Sr., Warrenville, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South) has been named Big Ten Athlete of the Week following her stellar performance at No. 18 Minnesota last Saturday.
Vagedes won the all-around (39.175) and vault (9.850) while tying for first place on the balance beam (9.800). She also took fourth place on uneven bars (9.725) and fifth in the floor exercise (9.800). Her all-around score was just .225 off her career-best mark of 39.400.
Led by the big performance from Vagedes, Ohio State recorded its best score ever in a season-opening meet, tallying 192.250 to easily top the previous best of 190.650, set last year at Michigan State.
The 24th-ranked Buckeyes return to action Friday night, hosting Ball State at 7 p.m. at St. John Arena.
