Trio of Buckeyes Earn Weekly Big Ten Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three Ohio State men’s lacrosse players have taken home weekly honors, the conference announced today. Jack Jasinski is the Offensive Player of the Week, Justin Inaciois the Specialist of the Week and Jackson Reid is the Freshman of the Week.

Jasinski had two goals and matched his career high with five assists as the Buckeyes knocked off the Terps 12-10 in College Park. He scored the game’s first goal just 1:02 into the contest, igniting a three-goal run for the Buckeyes and assisted on Colin Chell’s goal at the 12:24 mark of the quarter. Jasinski added three more first-half assists and also fed Hank Bethke for a key score with 6:09 to play in the fourth quarter to give Ohio State a two-goal edge at 11-9. With 33 seconds left, he scored an empty net goal to make the score 12-9.

Currently the team’s second leading scorer, Jasinski has 15 goals and 10 assists on the season. He has at least one point in 10 straight games with six multi-point games in that stretch. He was also chosen on Monday as the US Lacrosse National Player of the Week.

Inacio won 17 of 26 face-offs against the Terps, including 10 in a row during a span in the second and third quarters. He also won the first three face-offs of the first and third quarters, igniting a pair of 3-0 Ohio State runs. A freshman and native of Oakville, Ontario, Inacio is 46-of-67 (.686) in the X over the last three games. For the season, he’s winning face-offs at a .571 clip (101-of-177), third best in the conference and No. 1 among freshmen. Inacio and senior Freddy Freibott lead the team with 38 ground balls (2.92 per game).

Reid netted a hat trick on Sunday and scored the go-ahead goal with 12:59 to play in the fourth quarter in transition off a feed from Chell. He also scored with six seconds left in the second quarter to tie the score at 6-6 and again in the third quarter to give the Buckeyes an 8-6 lead. The Guelph, Ontario native has 23 points this season on 18 goals and five assists. He’s the third-leading goal scorer and point producer among Big Ten freshmen this season.

Jasinski, Inacio, Reid and the rest of the Buckeyes play their 2018 regular season finale on Saturday against No. 9 Rutgers at 4 p.m. with a chance to secure a spot in the Big Ten Tournament. The game can be seen live on BTN
