Columbus, Ohio – In conjunction with Jesse Owens Track and Field Classic (April 21-22), the Ohio State track and field program has partnered with The Ohio State University Black Alumni Society (OSUBAS) to collect hygiene products that will be donated to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank.

The drive will take place on Saturday, April 22, from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Southwest end of Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Mid-Ohio has requested the following products: deodorant, shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes and bar soap.

“We’re excited to collect as many items as possible, so that we can help those in need,” Kimberly Davis, the vice president of the OSUBAS, said. “We think this is a great opportunity for the community to come out and give back to the people who need it the most. We know this meet {Jesse Owens Classic} has a historic background and means a lot to the people of Columbus, and we thought this would be a great way to honor it.”

The 32nd edition of the Jesse Owens Classic will be Ohio State’s only home meet of the season. Over 30 collegiate teams will be in attendance, and Ohio State will celebrate the careers of 14 seniors on Saturday morning. Friday’s portion of the meet will begin with the throwing events at 2 p.m. ET and end with running events at 9:15 p.m. Saturday’s action will start at 10 a.m. ET with the throws (track events begin at noon) and will run through 4:40 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
