COLUMBUS, Ohio – After leading the Buckeyes to a pair of victories and into the top spot in the conference, senior Mikael Torpegaard earns Big Ten Player of the Week.
Torpegaard and the No. 3 Buckeyes swept the two matches over the weekend, knocking off No. 6 Illinois 4-0 and then also blanking Northwestern 7-0. In a match that featured the last two Big Ten Players of the Year, Torpegaard dominated Aleks Vukic 6-1, 6-2 to remain undefeated in the conference.
Against Northwestern, he helped claim the doubles point with a 6-4 win over partner John McNally and then fittingly on Senior Day, he provided the clinching point with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Dominik Stary.
This was the fourth time this season and the 11th time overall that Torpegaard has earned Player of the Week honors.
