COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State outfielder Tim Wetzel garnered Big Ten co-Freshman of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday.

The Mayfield, Ohio, native hit .466 for the week (7-for-15) with five runs scored. Wetzel had first three-hit game of his career and first multi-RBI game Sunday against Indiana while extending his hitting streak to six consecutive games.

The honor marks the fourth Big Ten weekly award this season after Josh Dezse picked up two Freshman of the Week honors and Greg Solomon was named Player of the Week a week ago.

The Buckeyes host Akron in a doubleheader at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday before welcoming Michigan State to Bill Davis Stadium for a three-game set beginning Friday.
