LEESON & TUBLIN MAKE BUCKEYE DEBUTS
Blake Leeson and Josh Tublin both donned the Scarlet & Gray for the first time in an official match during Saturday night’s regular season opener vs. McMaster University (Canada’s top-ranked team). Leeson, a redshirt freshman, earned a starting nod at middle blocker and contributed six kills at a .333 attacking pace. Tublin entered the contest as a serving specialist in the third frame.

PRESEASON PROGNOSTICATIONS
Ohio State is ranked sixth nationally to start the season as voted in the Preseason AVCA Coaches Poll. The Buckeyes were also predicted to finish second on the league level in the Preseason MIVA Coaches Poll, picking up three of the conference’s nine first-place votes and sliding in one point shy of preseason favorite Loyola.

The MIVA head coaches also selected Miles Johnson and Nicolas Szerszen as members of the Preseason All-MIVA Team. Szerszen garnered national attention as well, filling a spot on the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Preseason All-America First Team as one of the country’s top-10 vote-getters.

HANSON INDUCTED INTO AVCA HALL OF FAME
Pete Hanson was inducted into the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame on Dec. 17 at the national convention in Omaha, Neb. He becomes one of just 70 members all-time to become enshrined in the AVCA Hall of Fame which recognizes `individuals who have reached the pinnacle of their profession and the sport.’
