Three Buckeyes combined for eight wins at USA Swimming’s Ohio State championships last weekend in Canton, Ohio. Two of the swimmers recorded qualifying times for the upcoming national meet.

Joe Doyle (Jr., Centerburg, Ohio/Centerburg) won both the 100-meter butterfly and the 200-meter freestyle. In the 100-meter butterfly, Doyle recorded an Olympic Trial cut time of 55.57. Matt Voelker (So., Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) claimed the 100-meter freestyle event, clocking a time of 51.99 to qualify for his first USA national championship. Nate King (Jr., Youngstown, Ohio/Warren Harding) won five individual events throughout the meet: the 200- and 400-meter individual medley, the 400- and 1,500-meter freestyle and the 100-meter backstroke.

Eight members of the Ohio State men’s swim team, including Doyle, Voelker and King, will next travel to Irvine, Calif. for the 2005 USA National Championships, Aug. 3-8.
