COLUMBUS, Ohio – A trio of Buckeyes – Tre Leclaire, Jake Withers and Jesse King – have come one step closer to representing Team Canada at the 2018 FIL Men’s Lacrosse World Championships this summer, the organization announced.

Leclaire, Withers and King are three of 34 players who are currently on Team Canada’s training roster. It’s the second most players from one school in the country. The coaching staff will announce its final 23-man roster prior to the world championships in July.

A native of Surrey, British Columbia, Leclaire earned a silver medal for Team Canada at the 2016 U19 World Championships where he scored 11 goals and dished out three assists for 14 points in six games. King, who graduated from Ohio State in 2015 as the program’s fourth all-time leading scorer, played for Team Canada at the 2014 World Championships and helped the squad win a gold medal. Withers’ Buckeye career finished up last season when he became the program’s all-time leader in ground balls and had 614 face-off wins.

The 2018 FIL Men’s Lacrosse World Championships take place July 12-21 in Netanya, Israel.
