COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three Buckeyes have been selected for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship which will be played later this month at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, N.C., after the conclusion of the team championship.
Mikael Torpegaard is the No. 6 overall seed while JJ Wolf received an at-large selection for the second-straight season. By virtue of his top-16 seeding, Torpegaard earns All-America honors for the third-straight year.
Torpegaard is 25-7 on the season and was 10-1 in Big Ten singles action. The Denmark native has been ranked in the top-5 of the national singles rankings all season and owns 14 wins over nationally ranked players. Wolf is on a 10-match singles win streak and is 23-6 overall this season. He has won 11 matches against ranked foes and was dominant last weekend in winning three matches to help lead the Buckeyes to the Big Ten Tournament title.
In doubles, Torpegaard and Martin Joyce received an at-large selection. The duo is 8-3 on the year with half of their wins coming over ranked opponents. They started the fall with a win over the No. 18 ranked team and then over a week span in February, Torpegaard and Joyce took down two different No. 5-ranked teams from Texas and Florida.
The NCAA Team Championship starts for the Buckeyes in Columbus on May 11 against ETSU. The tournament runs through May 22 and the Singles and Doubles Championship will then start on May 23.
