COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three members of the 23rd-ranked Ohio State women’s soccer team have earned CoSIDA ESPN Academic All-District honors. Senior Courtney Jenkins was named to the first team, senior Lauren Beachy earned second team honors and sophomore Lauren Granberg garnered third team laurels.
Jenkins, a midfielder from Dublin, Ohio, has started 74 career matches, scoring seven goals and adding six assists. A two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete, Jenkins was named third-team Academic All-District in 2008. Jenkins also was named NSCAA Scholar All-East Region honorable mention in 2009.
Beachy, a defender from Loveland, Ohio, has started 80 career matches, tied with Lauren Steuer for the most among current Buckeyes. A two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete, Beachy was named third-team Academic All-District in 2008. She sits in a tie for ninth on the Ohio State career assists list with 13.
Granberg, from Edmonton, Alberta, was named an OSU Scholar-Athlete last season after tying for the team lead with six goals. The forward has followed that rookie campaign by scoring four goals and adding an assist in 18 games this season.
The Buckeyes conclude the regular season, taking on Michigan State on Senior Night at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
