COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference announced its pre-seeds for the 2017 Wrestling Championships and three Buckeyes were No. 1 spots – 133-pounder Nathan Tomasello, 174-pounder Bo Jordan and heavyweight Kyle Snyder.

Tomasello, Jordan and Snyder have been ranked No. 1 in their respective weight classes for the majority of the season. Snyder, the wire to wire No. 1 at heavyweight, is 9-0 this year and has beaten the nation’s No. 4 and No. 3 ranked wrestlers by a combined score of 39-18. His 9-0 record includes four falls, two technical falls and three major decision. In matches that haven’t ended in pins, he’s averaging 20.2 points/match. Snyder is the defending NCAA and Big Ten champion at 285 lbs.

He began the 2016-17 season as the nation’s No. 1-ranked 174 pounder and stayed there for the entire season before a 3-2 loss last Sunday to No. 3 Brian Realbuto of Cornell. Jordan has twice been the Big Ten runner-up at 165 pounds.

Tomasello took over the nation’s No. 1 spot at 133 lbs. following his win over Zane Richards of Illinois and hasn’t relinquished it. He’s 16-0 this year and 7-0 against ranked opponents, including wins over Eric Montoya of Nebraska (No. 2 pre-seed), Richards (No. 4 pre-seed) and Stevan Micic of Michigan (No. 5 pre-seed). A two-time Big Ten champion at 125 lbs., Tomasello is looking to become just the third three-time conference champion in program history.
