Sept. 29, 2016
The No. 2 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off their bye week and dive straight into B1G play, welcoming the Rutgers Scarlet Knights to Ohio Stadium for a noon kick on homecoming Saturday. Take a look at what activities are set to take place in and around The Shoe as OSU begins its quest for conference title No. 36 …
Settle into your seats early as former Buckeye head coach Earle Bruce will be honored pregame Saturday as one of a select few non-band members to ever dot the “i” in the Ohio State Marching Band’s performance of Script Ohio.
Bruce, head coach from 1979-87, joins the likes of comedian Bob Hope (1978), fellow former head coach Woody Hayes (1983), champion golfer Jack Nicklaus (2006), and Sen. John and Annie Glenn (2009). The most recent was Marching Band director emeritus Jon R. Woods, who dotted the “i” upon his retirement in 2011 after 38 seasons with the band.

As part of the pregame band performance the annual homecoming court and king and queen ceremony will take place on the east sideline. Don’t miss the parade Friday night running through campus. More on Ohio State homecoming festivities here.
Ohio State will join the conference in honoring Michigan State’s Mike Sadler and Nebraska’s Sam Foltz, both punters for their respective schools, who lost their lives tragically this past summer in a car accident. Their lives will be remembered with a ceremonial coin to be used as the captains meet at midfield prior to kick off.
During a break in first-quarter action, Ohio State will welcome back former All-American and current NFL All-Pro defensive back Malcolm Jenkins. He will be honored at the 50-yard line. Jenkins is in his eighth season as a professional and in his third year with the Philadelphia Eagles, who are on bye this week.
With the weather delay in the win over Tulsa last month, Ohio State and the Varsity O Association was unable to hold its annual halftime recognition for this year’s hall of fame class. Saturday, we will give it another go and welcome back as many of the 2016 class that was able to travel back this weekend. Schedule to attend are Justin Kronauge (men’s tennis), Randy Larson (men’s diving), John Machado (baseball) and Paul Zelenak (pistol).

Again, all are encouraged to arrive early and can start enjoying family-friendly activities at the FanFest area beginning at approx. 9 a.m. Skull session with the band — and the football team’s customary trek through St. John Arena — will begin at 10 a.m. Join in on the Buckeye Walk as well from the Blackwell Hotel to St. John at 9:45 a.m.
Reminder: No bags are permitted inside Ohio Stadium
