The additional top-100 squads are No. 61 Troy, No. 69 Georgia Regents, No. 85 Southern Miss, No. 97 Cincinnati and No. 99 Tulsa. Individually, Mississippi State’s Ben Wood is slotted No. 14 nationally while Casey Fernandez of Southern Miss comes in at No. 82 in the country.
Head coach Donnie Darr elected to go with three upperclassmen and two underclassmen for the lineup. Senior Logan Jones and Boo Timko are joined by redshirt junior Grant Weaver, sophomore Clark Engle and freshman Nick Sparling. Engle is in search of his third top-5 finish this season while Sparling makes his collegiate debut.
Weather conditions are not expected to be an issue during the first two days of competition with highs in the high 70s-low 80s and no chance of rain. Tuesday has potential issues, however, as Weather Channel is predicting a 40 percent chance of rain.
After improving their placement in each of the first three tournaments, the Buckeyes struggled at the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational. The season began with ascension in the final standings as each tournament progressed, culminating in a team title at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational. The Buckeyes opened with a third-place showing at the Northern Intercollegiate, took second at the Windon Memorial Classic before grabbing the hardware in Columbus. Overall, Ohio State owns a 34-14 head-to-head record this season.
