Thank you so very, very much for posting my mother’s pictures Martha McDonough Nelson as “Forever a Buckeye” during the Cincinnati game on 9/27/14! You made her day! Actually, I think you made her whole year!
One of my cousins took a photo of the big screen during the game and immediately posted it on Facebook. I promptly called my mom and she was as “giddy as a school girl”. I could hear her grinning from ear to ear over the phone.
She only gets back to Columbus once a year (moved to St. Joseph, Michigan in 1967), and always for a Buckeye Football Game. We don’t know how many football seasons she may have left for this lifetime, but as long as the weather holds out and isn’t too cold for her age, she will be in that seat for the Michigan game! She won’t be able to see the game (macular degeneration), nor hear the announcer (hard of hearing), but I will be her eyes and ears. Regardless, she can feel the energy of the stadium and is never happier than when she is back at her alma mater in The Shoe.
Once again, I thank you for making one 1946 alumni a very, very happy woman.
-Lois Nelson, her daugther
