COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State synchronized swimming team had six current and one former Buckeye advance to phase three of the 2009 Senior National Team Trials. The second phase was held Sunday at the Avery Aquatic Center on the campus of Stanford University.

Becky Kim, Meghan Kinney and Jillian Penner automatically qualified for phase three as 2008 U.S. Olympians.

Barbara Nesbitt, Hannah Shively and Michelle Theriault former Buckeye Leah Pinette also qualified to the final phase.

Training will take place at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on The Ohio State University campus beginning May 10. Final downsizing of the team will take place during training in Columbus.

Linda Lichter-Witter, Ohio State head coach, will lead the 2009 Senior National Team when it competes in world competition Rome, Italy, in July. Buckeye associate head coach Holly Vargo-Brown will act as the assistant coach while training takes place in Columbus, Ohio. Denise Shively, mother of Hannah Shively, will be the manager of the national team. She also was the manager of the 2008 Olympic team.
