COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State synchronized swimming team earned 90 points to garner first place at Richmond Saturday. Lindenwood (72) and Richmond (60) placed second and third, respectively. The Buckeyes swept all the events, consisting of solo, duet, trio and team routines.
The Scarlet squad, comprised of Barbara Nesbitt, Carmen Moraes, Deborah Shim, Caitlin Stewart, Jayme DeLancy, Jillian Penner, Meghan Kinney and Michelle Theriault, captured first place with a score of 96.167. This is the second first-place finish for Scarlet team this season.
Nesbitt took first place in the solo competition with a mark of 92.000.
The Scarlet and Gray had Top 2 finishes in the duet and trio routines. Becky Kim and Kinney scored a 92.333 to finish first in the duet competition, followed by teammates DeLancy and Shim, who tallied a mark of 90.167 for second place.
In trio, Nesbitt, Shim and Theriault recorded a 90.833 to finish second behind teammates Stewart, Moraes and Kinney, who placed first with a score of 93.500.
Up next, the Buckeyes’ Scarlet squad will travel to Keuka, N.Y., to compete in the Keuka College Invitational. The Gray squad will make its way to Oxford, Ohio, to take on Miami. Both competitions will be held Feb. 28.
