KNOW THY OPPONENT

• What is a horned frog? It’s a horned lizard or a horned toad, and it became the school’s mascot in 1887 after appearing in the school yearbook. A committee picked it over the name “cactus,” and it stuck around for over 130 years. According to Merriam Webster, the horned toad is “any of several small harmless insectivorous lizards of the western U.S. and Mexico that resemble toads and have hornlike spines.” The horned frog is known for shooting blood from its eyes as a defense mechanism.

• Fort Worth, Texas is home to the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing, where 60 percent of the U.S. money supply is printed.

• TCU has an enrollment total of 10,489 undergraduate and graduate students, which is the 17th largest university in the state of Texas. Amongst private schools, only Baylor and SMU have higher enrollments.

FIVE NOTES TO KNOW

• Saturday will be Ohio State’s record 41st game at a College GameDay site. The Buckeyes have a 26-14 “GameDay” record, with the most recent win last year vs. Penn State.

• Since the start of the 2012 season, Ohio State owns 33 wins in road or neutral site games. Its .868 winning percentage of those games is the best mark nationally.

• With last Saturday’s win over Rutgers, Ohio State became one of just two FBS programs to reach 900 all-time wins. The Buckeyes are 900-324-53 in their 129th season.

• Since 2007, Ohio State leads the Big Ten with a 12-4 road record against ranked teams. No other school has more than five ranked road wins during that time.

• Dwayne Haskins has bolted to the top of the national leaders in passing efficiency, ranking fourth this week with a 218.05 efficiency rating. Haskins’ hot start includes a 79.2 completion percentage – third-highest nationally – and 546 passing yards with nine touchdowns and just one interception so far.
