COLUMBUS, Ohio – Several members of the Ohio State baseball team are having strong starts to their respective summer leagues. Connor Curlis was named Prospect League Pitcher of the Week, after throwing eight shutout innings over two appearances for the Champion City Kings last week. He allowed just two hits, didn’t walk a batter and struck out 13. The native of Findlay, Ohio, Curlis is 1-1 with a 3.69 ERA in 24.1 innings pitched with four starts this summer.
Some more summer highlights:
Ryan Feltner – Has transitioned to the Bourne Braves’ closer in the Cape, collecting four saves in five appearances. Feltner has struck out nine with one walk in five innings of work.
Dominic Canzone – Hitting .352 (25-for-71) with three doubles, two triples, two home runs, 13 RBI and going 14-for-16 in stolen bases in the Valley Collegiate Summer League.
Brady Cherry – Tied for the lead in home runs in the Prospect League with eight long balls in 23 games. Cherry is batting .281 with 23 RBI.
Tyler Cowles – Has guided the Chillicothe Paints to a 15-8 record. Eighth in the Prospect League in hitting with a .354 average (29-for-82) with eight doubles, three home runs and 20 RBI.
Jake Vance – 2-0 with a 3.09 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 23.1 innings pitched for the Champion City Kings.
Conner Pohl – Batting .266 with four doubles and nine RBI for the Front Royal Cardinals.
Gavin Lyon – 0-0 with a 2.08 ERA with five strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched in three appearances in the New England Collegiate League.
Matt Carpenter – Hitting .343 (12-for-35) with two doubles and five RBI in 11 games in the Great Lakes League.
