COLUMBUS, Ohio – Several members of the Ohio State baseball team are having solid starts to their respective summer leagues. Jake Ruby was named Offensive Player of the Week in the Cal Ripken League July 2 after hitting .448 with a homer, three doubles and seven RBI for the Baltimore Dodgers.
Here are some other highlights below:
Dominic Canzone – The Buckeye outfielder is hitting .319 (15-for-47) with five runs scored, one triple, one home run, six RBI, three walks and 1-for-2 in stolen bases for the Brewster White Caps in the Cape.
Thomas Waning – The Ohio State right-handed relief pitcher is tied for the Prospect League lead with six wins. He is 6-3 with a 1.98 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 31.2 innings pitched in 20 appearances.
Griffan Smith – 1-1 with a 3.46 ERA in five starts for the Chillicothe Paints in the Prospect League. He has struck out 29 in 26.0 IP.
Dillon Dingler – The rising sophomore catcher is hitting .372 (16-for-43) with seven runs, six doubles, one triple, 11 RBI, six walks and one stolen base for the Paints.
Conner Pohl – Batting .255 (13-for-51) with eight runs scored, three doubles, one home run, five RBI and five walks for the Champion City Kings in the Prospect League.
Jake Vance – The rising junior right-handed pitcher is 2-1 with a 3.08 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 23.1 innings of work for the Baltimore Dodgers in the Cal Ripken League.
Jake Ruby – The OSU outfielder is hitting .338 (26-for-77) with five doubles, one triple, two home runs, 15 RBI, 13 walks and six steals for the Dodgers.
Andrew Magno – The OSU lefty has struck out 20 batters in 11.2 innings of work in eight relief appearances for the Kings.
