A three-year varsity member of the rowing program, Miedema was a part of the 2013 NCAA Championship Ohio State rowing team, which made history as the first Big Ten team to win a national team title in rowing and the first women’s program at Ohio State to win an NCAA Championship. A CRCA Central All-Region First Team and CRCA Second Team All-American, Miedema won a bronze medal at the 2013 NCAA Championships and a gold medal at the 2013 Big Ten Championships with the first varsity eight, and has helped the first varsity eight crew to a perfect 6-0 record in 2014. The Circleville, Ohio, native and animal sciences major is a two-time Big Ten Team and Individual Champion as well as a two-time Academic All-Big Ten and four-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete.

Why did you choose to major in Animal Sciences? – I was interested in going to vet school and come from an agricultural background, so it seemed like a fitting choice.
Describe your first day as a student at The Ohio State University – My first day involved a lot of speed walking between classes held on main campus and agriculture campus since I wasn’t familiar with the bus system yet.

Team you’re most looking forward to competing against – Brown University, because they’ve had an impressive season so far and have a history of winning championships.
What is your top skill and what do you need to improve? – I can produce power but need to improve my precision and accuracy on the water.
