Columbus, Ohio – Ohio State’s Stephanie Blanton turned in a balanced performance with five points, four rebounds and two assists Wednesday to help the 2005 Big Ten Foreign Tour team defeat the Netherlands national team, 107-52, in Den Helder, Netherlands. The Big Ten all-stars have won each of the first two contests of a three-game set with the Netherlands by a combined score of 216-108 after topping the Netherlands, 119-56, in Game One Tuesday.

Penn State’s Adrienne Squire led all scorers with 19 points. She was one of five Big Ten players to score in double figures Wednesday. Seniors Ifeoma Okonkwo of Northwestern and Cyndi Valentin of Indiana netted 13 and 12 points, respectively, while Minnesota’s Liz Podominick recorded 11 and Penn State’s Kamela Gissendanner had 10.

Blanton, a junior from Lancaster, Ohio, netted her five points on 2-of-3 shooting from the field and 1-of-2 from the free throw line. She has converted 6-of-7 field goals in the two games and pulled down seven rebounds.

The format of the game Wednesday was changed from the game Tuesday. The two teams played four quarters Wednesday as opposed to halves in the game Tuesday. The alteration made no difference in the outcome as the Big Ten all-stars jumped out to a 59-23 advantage at the half and allowed the Netherlands to score no more than 15 points in a quarter.

Michigan State’s Victoria Lucas-Perry led the squad with five assists, while Purdue’s Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton gathered a team-best six rebounds.

The Big Ten squad and the Netherlands meet for the series finale today in Dan Helder. The team will break from play for a day of travel and sightseeing, with stops at the house of Anne Frank, the Gassan Diamond Factory and The Hague, as well as a few historic art museums. Then, the Tour continues to Belgium for a date against the Belgium National Team in Aalst on July 23. Following a tour of the town of Brugge on Sunday, the team will travel to Brussels to prepare for its finale against Luxembourg on Monday, July 25.
