COLUMBUS, Ohio– Incoming Buckeyes Noelle St. John and Monica Velazquez-Stiak concluded another summer competition during the weekend at the FINA World Junior Championships in Helsinki, Finland. St. John and Velazquez-Stiak, who will be freshmen for the 2015 season, are members of the U.S. Junior National Team. The Buckeye duo helped lead the U.S. squad to an eighth-place team finish at the FINA World Championships.

The squad began the final day of competition in 10th place, but a fifth-place outing in figures helped lift the team to eighth with 156.2439 points.

Russia won the team title with 167.9395 points, while Japan (166.0544) and China (162.9142) rounded out the Top 3.

Earlier this summer St. John and Velazquez-Stiak won a gold medal in the team routine event at the U.S. Open Championships. Velazquez-Stiak captured her second gold medal of the U.S. Open with her first-place finish in Junior Figures.
