COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s hockey senior forward Natalie Spooner was one of 23 players selected to represent Team Canada at the 2011 Four Nations Cup, taking place Nov. 9-14 in Nyköping, Sweden.

The Four Nations Cup brings together the top four women’s hockey countries in the world – Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States – for the international tournament.

Spooner is playing in her third Four Nations Cup, competing in the 2010 tournament that brought gold to Team Canada and silver in 2008. The Scarborough, Ontario, native enters her final season at Ohio State standing second in career goals (69) and sixth in career points (113) in the program’s history. She finished her junior year second on the squad in total points with 39 and led the team with 26 goals.

The tournament will also serve as an evaluation for Canada’s national coaching staff and Hockey Canada scouts as they continue to assess the nation’s top female players throughout the season to determine rosters for upcoming international competitions, including the 2012 MLP Cup (Jan. 4-8) and 2012 IIHF World Women’s Championships (April 7-14).
