COLUMBUS, Ohio – %^$The Buckeyes (16-13) dominated Morehead State (11-21) today winning, 7-2, in game one of the doubleheader, but would fall in the second game, 10-2, to split the non-conference series at Buckeye Field. Stacy Roth led the Buckeyes offensively, going 3-for-5 and posting one double and one RBI in the series. She now has extended her hitting streak to a team-high and career-high 12 games this season.%^$

%^$GAME ONE%^$

%^$Morehead State opened the game with a 2-0 lead when Nola Queen notched a one-run double to leftfield. With two outs, Pam Crawford followed with another double to leftfield, scoring Queen.%^$

%^$Ohio State answered in the bottom of the first as Holly English blasted a double to centerfield. With two batters on, Roth nailed a single into leftfield to score English. Renae Weigel was out at first but would score Jennifer Link to even the score at two runs. Then Roth and Hottinger at both corners would double steal for the 3-2 lead.%^$

%^$The Buckeyes extended their lead in the bottom of the third when Roth opened the inning with a double to rightfield. She would advance to third on a wild pitch and score on a fielder’s choice from Hottinger. Weigel would then score on the throw.%^$

%^$OSU posted two more runs in the bottom of fifth for its 16th win of the season.%^$

%^$Ohio State held the Lady Eagles scoreless for the last six innings as Katie Chain gave up only two runs off eight hits and struck out seven for a complete game. She is now 7-3 for the season and only needs three more strikeouts to tie the freshman record of 83 K’s.%^$

%^$GAME TWO %^$

%^$Morehead State posted the 10-2 win in the second game of the doubleheader, after recording seven runs off of four Ohio State errors.%^$

%^$After falling behind in the first inning, 4-0, the Buckeyes looked to gain the comeback as Anna Smith led off with a single to the third baseman. She would later score off a hit from Jennifer Link. Ohio State was behind, 4-1.%^$

%^$The Buckeyes remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth, when Sarah West blasted her third home run of the season for an RBI. However, Morehead State notched four more runs in the top of the seventh to gain the 10-2 upset.%^$

%^$Inside the circle, MSU’s Pam Crawford completed the game, giving up five hits, one run and striking out one for the win. Toni Hileman posted her fourth loss of the season after giving up only two runs off six hits.%^$

%^$Ohio State will now open its Big Ten season against Purdue in a doubleheader on Friday at Buckeye Field. The doubleheader is scheduled for 2 p.m.
