Madison, Wis. – The Ohio State softball team (16-27 overall, 2-14 in Big Ten) lost to the Wisconsin Badgers (23-15 overall, 7-6 in Big Ten), 5-1 at the Goodman Softball Complex. With the win, the Badgers sweep the season series.

One bad inning for the Buckeyes proved to be enough for Wisconsin. In the bottom of the third inning, UW scored four runs off five hits, including a two run home run by Jennifer Cummings.

OSUs only run came in the top of the fourth inning. Cheryl Palaroan (Sr., Reno, Nev.) led off with a single. She later scored on a sacrifice fly by Jaime Chenevey (Sr., Wooster, Ohio).

Offensively, Renae Weigel (Jr., Coldwater, Ohio) finished the series 5-for-8 (.625) with an RBI.

Inside the circle, Meaghan Robinson (Sr., Naples, Fla.), still suffering from a stress fracture in her right rib cage, retired the first six batters she faced but ended up taking the loss. Her record drops to 5-5 on the year. Wisconsins Ashley Fauser improved to 12-8 with her eight strikeout performance.

“I wont use my injury as an excuse,” Robinson said. “I had a job to do and I didnt get it done. I give them credit. They hit the ball in the third inning and thats all they needed.”

The Buckeyes will travel to Penn State on Wednesday for a doubleheader at 2 p.m.
