Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team (10-20 overall, 0-7 in Big Ten) lost a doubleheader to No. 25 Iowa (25-13-1 overall, 2-3 in Big Ten) 3-0 and 2-0.

In the first contest, the Hawkeyes took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning and never looked back. They added runs in the fifth and sixth innings to win the game 3-0. Iowa starting pitcher Kelly Zielstra (11-5) earned the win with a complete game four hit performance.

For the Buckeyes, Toni Hileman (Jr., Alliance, Ohio) saw her record drop to 4-14 on the year. She went six innings and gave up three runs (two earned).

In the second contest, Iowa’s Kristi Hanks (8-6) tossed her first career no-hitter. She recorded 10 strikeouts and walked two batters.

The game did mark the return of Meaghan Robinson (Sr., Naples, Fla.) to the pitching circle for OSU. She missed the last nine games with a stress fracture in her right rib cage. Although she is not 100 percent healthy, she did manage four innings of one-hit, shutout softball.

Hileman (4-15) entered the game in the fifth inning and gave up a pair of runs to earn the loss.

The two schools will conclude the three-game series tomorrow at noon.
