COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team could not notch the upset today and fell to the No. 15 Iowa Hawkeyes, 4-1, at Pearl Field in Coralville, Iowa. The Buckeyes are now 24-24 overall and 4-11 in the Big Ten, while the Hawkeyes remain in first place in the conference standings with a 39-11 overall record and a 13-3 Big Ten record.
The Hawkeyes came out in the second inning posting one run off a Liz Dennis double to centerfield. The Buckeyes tied the score in the bottom of the third when Sarah West got on base off a Hawkeye error. Two batters later, she would score as Jennifer Link nailed a grounder to centerfield.

Ohio State was led by Link, who went 2-for-3 posting two of the Buckeyes’ three hits and an RBI today. Inside the circle, Katie Chain gave up two runs off seven hits, striking out one and walking one. She is now 10-9 on the season.
