🏟 The Show in The Shoe: Military Appreciation, Wear Black vs. Nebraska


A jam-packed Saturday awaits as the Buckeyes lace ’em up against their third straight cross-over foe from the Big Ten’s west division at noon in The Shoe. Theme’s a-plenty are on tap for this mid-day matinee against Nebraska:

  • Military Appreciation: the annual salute to our armed forces will be taking place game-long
  • Wear Black: The Buckeyes will be geared up in their alternate uniforms circa the “Dark Night Game” vs. Penn State in 2015. Fans are encouraged to join in and can get the latest in threads here
  • Kindness Week: Ohio State recently teamed with Ohio University to help feed those in need and an on-field tribute will take place Saturday

Military Appreciation 

Each year a special Saturday in November is selected to honor those who have served to defend our country. It is a small token to pay tribute to the dedication and sacrifice of those who stand to defend our freedoms. Among the numerous festivities and tributes:

  • Stadium flyover performed by the 509th Bomb Wing, Whiteman AFB, MO.
  • Giant American flag
  • Student Veteran ball presentation
  • Soldier team lead out
  • and more

Scarlet and Gray Salute – Friday Night Concert

Back in Black

In 2015, Ohio State debuted their black alternate uniforms in a victorious 2015 night game vs. Penn State. The Buckeyes will re-introduce this look Saturday. Buckeye fans are encouraged to join in the theme and wear black Ohio State attire. New items can be found here.

Salute to Katie Smith – National Basketball Hall of Famer

This fall Buckeye basketball legend Katie Smith was inducted in the Naismith National Basketball Hall of Fame. The 1996 Big Ten Player of the Year led the Buckeyes to the Final Four in 1993. As a pro, she won two WNBA titles and also claimed three Olympic gold medals. Upon her retirement in 2013, she was the all-time leading scorer in professional women’s basketball history. More

Buckeye Walk and Skull Session – Ohio State Staples

Always a can’t miss and a great break from the tailgate, join the Buckeyes through Skull Session at St. John Arena and then the North Rotunda into Ohio Stadium. The Buckeye Walk begins at The Blackwell at approximately 10 a.m. You won’t want to miss the thunderous entrance into St. John Arena and as TBDBITL – along with alums – warm up for Saturday’s performance.

Fanfest and Concert series

Prior to Skull Session be sure to swing by FanFest, located just outside St. John Arena in Remembrance Park. The area offers pregame fun for all ages and also will feature live music again this year. This week, activities will get underway around 9 a.m. Also, be sure to be on the lookout to the Ohio State women’s gymnastic team performing demo routines near the Fanfest area.
