COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s men’s volleyball opposite Shawn Sangrey has been named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Offensive Player of the Week. He helped Ohio State extend their winning streak to 10 matches with a match-high 20 points in the 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 28-26) win at Ball State. Sangrey recorded a match-high 15 kills, two assist blocks and tied his career-high of four ace serves. He added a match-high nine digs in the contest. In the match, Sangrey averaged 6.67 points, 5.00 kills, 1.33 aces, 3.0 digs and .67 blocks per set while hitting .211. This is the second time this season he has been named the MIVA Offensive Player of the Week.
The fifth-ranked Buckeyes (10-2 overall, 4-0 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) return home to start a five-match home stand over the next three weeks. This week the Buckeyes host conference opponent IPFW (6-5, 0-3) at 7 p.m. Friday and Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association opponent fifth-ranked (Division III) Juniata (11-6, 3-0 EIVA) at 4 p.m. Sunday. Both matches will be played in St. John Arena and admission is free.
