OXFORD, Ohio – Several members of the Ohio State women’s track and field team competed in the Miami Invitational at Miami University Saturday.
Eight Buckeyes represented the Scarlet and Gray in the 15-team meet, including four true freshmen who were able to gain exposure and experience. Kelsey McHugh had the standout performance of the meet for Ohio State as she blew away the competition in the 5000m run. Her time of 16:46.83 shattered her PR and left her well ahead of the competition.
Here’s an event-by-event breakdown of Ohio State’s performance:
Freshman Angela Williams (4:50.72) placed 38th while Mason Cathey won the race in 4:25.63.
Molly Jacobson also made her way into the Top 5. With a time of 17:41.50 she took fifth place. Finishing 12th was Mallory Kreider (18:20.52).
The lone Buckeye in the event was Kristen Esterheld (38.55m) who placed 23rd. Winona State’s Mary Theisen won with a mark of 50.25m.
Amanda Henderson threw the javelin a distance of 28.26m to finish 15th. Miami University’s Victoria Paterra finished first with a throw of 48.61m.
The Buckeyes will travel to Purdue for the Dave Rankin Invitational April 15-16. Additionally, several distance runners will compete at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., April 14-15.
