COLUMBUS, Ohio – The fifth-ranked Ohio State rowing team garnered its second-consecutive conference honor when the Buckeyes’ second varsity eight was named Big Ten Boat of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. The first varsity eight boat earned Big Ten laurels April 4. The 2V8 boat won both of its races this last weekend en route to Ohio State’s second Boat of the Week league honor this season.

The second varsity eight boat of Lavinia Tinelli (Fr., Rome, Italy), Andrea Dymalski (So., Bremen, Germany), Patricia Goodeman (Jr., Waterville, Ohio), Zuzanna Trzcinska (Fr., Ilawa, Poland), Katie Poling (Sr., Elyria, Ohio), Briony Clare (Jr., Sydney, Australia), Justine Mahler (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio), Olga Grigorieva (Sr., Moscow, Russia) and coxswain Sarah Obee (Sr., Toledo, Ohio) extended its winning streak to four duals as the Buckeyes defeated Southern California and Tennessee April 8 at Griggs Reservoir on the Scioto River in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes topped USC in the morning race by more than eight seconds, clocking in at 6:31.30 while the Trojans finished at 6:39.32. In the afternoon, OSU won its second race with a time of 6:26.97 to Tennessee’s 6:32.37.

The Buckeyes will next compete April 15 when they travel to Bloomington, Ind., to face No. 18 Minnesota and No. 19 Oregon State is dual races.
