COLUMBUS, Ohio – Head women’s basketball coach Beth Burns announced today that Kit Savage has signed a national letter of intent to continue her education and basketball career at The Ohio State University next fall.

“We are really pleased to add Kit Savage to our 2000 recruiting class,” Burns said. “Our staff was impressed with her versatility and ability to play both ends of the court. She can score, rebound and defend with the best of them. Her Tyler Junior College team plays with a style very similar to ours. Most importantly, she brings the competitive attitude that comes with playing for a national champion.

“I would like to congratulate my staff for putting together another great recruiting class.”

Savage attended Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas for the past two years. Last year, her team compiled a 34-2 record en route to winning the NJCAA Division I National Championship. Per game, she averaged 8.4 point, 4.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.6 steals and 3.5 blocked shots.

Savage is originally from Arkadelphia, Ark., where she also attended Arkadelphia High School. She is 5 feet 9 inches tall and is projected to play either off-guard or small forward for the Buckeyes.

“I really liked the coaching staff, the team chemistry and their style of play,” Savage said. “Plus the status of the university really intrigued me.

“I would describe myself as a heads-up player who does the little things to help the ball club. I think I’ll fit well into Coach Burns’ system.”
