COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State rowing team went 2-0 Sunday to conclude the Pac-10 Challenge presented by Windermere in Redwood City, Calif. Stanford served as hosts of the event.
The Buckeyes opened their 2008 season Saturday competing against California and UCLA and posted a 4-2 mark. Ohio State wrapped up the classic against Stanford.
The First Varsity Eight of Claudia Wurzel, Charlott Goldstein, Anniken Ellingsen, Zuzanna Trzcinska, Patricia Goodeman, Susanne Herbrand, Gabriele Albertaviciute, Tess Prescott and coxswain Erika Benford finished behind Stanford with a time of 6:4.57, while the Cardinal clocked in at 6:46.79. The First Varsity Eight concluded the weekend 1-2.
In the Second Varsity Eight race, the Buckeye crew of Simone Haubner, Cleonice Renzetti, Peta-Leigh Dakyns, Caroline Helmholz, Nora Franzen, Katie Flarida, Mary Sheehan, Sara Wallace and coxswain Kate Hanseman finished the series 3-0. The Buckeyes finished the race at 6:47.28, while the host team crossed the line in 7:02.13.
The First Varsity Four of Ashley Korfel, Andrea Dymalski, Erin Shropshire, Jackie Ruetenik and coxswain Kristin DiJosie ended the weekend with a win over the Cardinal. Ohio State finished at 7:49.37, while Stanford finished behind the Buckeyes with a time of 8:17.37. The Buckeye boat finished the classic with a 1-2 overall record.
The Buckeyes will host the ACC/Big Ten Double Duals at 9 a.m. Saturday at Griggs Reservoir in Columbus, Ohio. Ohio State will be joined by Michigan from the Big Ten Conference, while Virginia and Duke will represent the ACC.
