Roberts the School Record, London Wins 400m Hurdles

Knoxville, Tenn. – The pole vaulting record book took another hit Friday evening at the Tennessee Relays. For the second straight meet, Madison Roberts set a personal best on her way to setting a new school standard. She cleared 4.00m (13-1.50) to become the sole leader atop the Ohio State record books on her way to bronze.

Christine London had herself a solid afternoon on the track. The senior captured gold in the 400m hurdles, her second of the year, with a season-best time of 59.00. She followed that up with a silver finish in the 100m hurdles about 45 minutes after that with a time of 13.70. Fellow hurdler Chantel Ray was right on her heels with a time of 13.78 to place fourth.

In the women’s 400m dash, Karrington Winters won the whole thing with her first-career sub-54 second race. She was the fastest runner in a field of over 40 runners. Freshman Tamani Wilson placed fifth in the event with a readout of 55.06.

In the men’s sprints, Deshawn Marshall had solid showings in the 100m and 400m dash. In the 400m dash, he earned bronze with a time of 47.79. He followed that up with another bronze in the 100m dash with a personal record of 10.54. In the 110m hurdles, DaJuan Seward (14.27/personal best) and Brent Carroll (14.52/PR) ran to a two-four finish in the event. Champ Page took bronze in the 200m dash with a time of 21.24.

Rachel Weber ran the fourth-fastest 1,500m run in program history with a 4:24.78 to earn a fourth-place showing in a field of 40 athletes. Jared Fleming placed second in the 800m run with a time of 1:49.68, and Patrick Kunkel finished third in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:39.77. Taylor DeLoach registered a quality personal record with a leap of 6.01m (19-8.75).

In the throws, Nick Demaline took fifth place in the shot put with a heave of 19.36m (63-6.25) and freshman Daniel Mastropaolo carded a third-place finish with a personal-best javelin heave of 63.18m (207-03).
