COLUMBUS, Ohio – The “Road to Crew Stadium” officially began today when the 48-team bracket for the 2003 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship was announced live from NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis.

The 2003 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship College Bracket starts play this Friday, Nov. 21, and will culminate in the 2003 NCAA Men’s College Cup semifinals and championship matches at Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, on Friday, Dec. 12 and Sunday, Dec. 14.

“Ohio State is a proud host of the 2003 College Cup, which will determine the national champion,” said Andy Geiger, OSU Athletics Director. “We are especially pleased to be partners with Experience Columbus!, The Columbus Sports Commission, and the Columbus Crew in making this an extraordinary weekend for our visitors.”

Twenty-three teams qualified automatically by winning their conference championship, while the remaining 25 teams were selected at-large. For the first time ever, the committee had the ability to seed 16 teams, therefore making sure none of the top 16 teams, will meet before the third round (the 16 seeded teams all received first-round byes).

Following is the schedule for the “Road to Crew Stadium” (the first four rounds will take place on campus sites):
First Round (Nov. 21 – 22): 16 games will be played in this 2-day period
Second Round (Nov. 26): first-round winners will play the 16 seeded teams
Third Round (Nov 29 – 30)
Quarterfinals (Dec. 5 – 7)
Semifinals (Dec. 12) at Crew Stadium, Columbus, OH
Men’s College Cup Final Match (Dec. 14) at Crew Stadium, Columbus, OH
