COLUMBUS, Ohio James Clark (Fr., Woburn, Mass.) has qualified to participate in the NCAA air rifle championship, March 14-15 at the Christl Arena in West Point, N.Y. He is one of four individuals along with eight teams that will compete for the championship. Clark shot a career-high 587 in air rifle at the NCAA Qualifier, Feb. 14-16 hosted by OhioState. He has been OhioState’s top scorer in air rifle in eight of 10 events this season.
Clark was the top individual scorer in air rifle at the Western Intercollegiate Rifle Conference Championships, shooting a 390. He received first team WIRC All-Conference honors in both air rifle and smallbore rifle.
Other individual qualifiers include Leslie Angeli of Kentucky, Kasey Meyer of MurrayState and Shannon Wilson of Mississippi. Team qualifiers in smallbore rifle and air rifle include Alaska Fairbanks, Kentucky, Nebraska (Lincoln), Nevada (Reno), Texas Christian, United States Military Academy, United States Naval Academy and West Virginia.
Individual and team competitions in smallbore three-position (60 shots) will be held Friday, March 14. Individual and team competitions in air rifle (60 shots) will be held Saturday, March 15.
