%^$Columbus, Ohio – For the second time this season and third time of his career, Ohio State men’s swimmer Brian Malich (Sr., Mason, Ohio/El Dorado (Calif.)) was named the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week.%^$

%^$In a 149.50-93.50 win over Indiana Saturday, Malich led off the 400 freestyle relay with a time of :44.15, setting a Mike Peppe Aquatic Center pool record in the 50 freestyle. In addition to his record-setting performance, Malich was a double-winner in the 100 freestyle (:44.92) and the 200 freestyle (1:38.02). The previous night, in a 149-89 win over Ball State, Malich won the 50 freestyle.%^$

%^$Malich previously earned the honor for the week of Nov.28 for his efforts Nov. 21 at Cleveland State, when he posted individual wins in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, respectively. Malich was also a member of the winning 200 freestyle relay team in a win over Cleveland State.%^$

%^$On Feb. 8, 2000 Malich earned the award for the first time.
