Mansfield, Ohio, native talks about her 2010 goals
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Casey Williamson returns in 2010 after recording a team-best 9.800 on uneven bars at the NCAA Central Region championships and scoring above a 9.800 on all three of her events at the Big Ten championship as a true freshman as season ago. Since the start of the season, Williamson, a native of Mansfield, Ohio, has continued to provide solid numbers for the Buckeyes.
“Casey had an awesome freshman season,” Carey Fagan, Ohio State head coach, said. “Although she did not compete in the all-around, she was one of our strongest competitors on bars, floor and vault. Casey has upgraded her beam routine to put her in position to compete in the all-around. We will be looking to Casey again for her clean lines and dynamic tumbling.”
On the serious side …
Athletically, what are your personal and team goals this season?
“My personal goals are to compete the all-around and to get 9.800 or above on every event. Team goals are to win at Big Ten title, place in the Top 3 at Regionals and make it to Nationals!!!”
How do you balance the pressure of athletics and academics?
“Schedule. I have to start my day by making a schedule of all the things I have to do. It takes a lot of focus and discipline, but after doing it for 18 years I have gotten used to the lifestyle.”
Who has made the greatest influence on you as a student-athlete?
“My parents, coaches, teammates and best friends.”
