COLUMBUS, Ohio –  Former Buckeye Drew Rucinski was called up to the Miami Marlins on June 3 and has been a strong contributor to the big league bullpen over the last month. In 13 appearances, the right-hander has collected a 4-1 record with a 3.12 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 17.1 innings of work. Opposing hitters have just a .190 mark vs. Rucinski, who is looking to return off the 10-day disabled list soon.

“It was pretty cool to get an opportunity and go up there for the Marlins,” Rucinski said. “My velocity was up and I was making good pitches, especially with my cutter. The wins are nice but that’s sort of the luck of the game being a middle reliever you know. It reminds me of when I had 12 win during college ball in 2009. That’s just baseball. I just started my rehab in Jupiter and I hope to get back on the mound very soon.”

Here are some other #ProBucks highlights below:

Brad Goldberg, Jackson Generals (Arizona Diamondbacks)

  • The Chicago White Sox traded Goldberg to the Arizona Diamondbacks on June 5.
  • The former OSU right-hander, Goldberg, who made his MLB debut last year, has been dominant at the double-A level since the trade, posting a 0.66 ERA with four saves and a 2-0 mark in 15 appearances out of the bullpen. Goldberg has fanned 23 in 13.2 innings of work and has only allowed one run. He has struck out 13 in his last 10 appearances with two saves.
  • Goldberg was a part of the first no-hitter by a Jackson Generals team since 1999 as five pitchers combined to strike out 11 in a 6-0 victory over Jacksonville June 15.

Jaron Long, Harrisburg Senators (Washington Nationals)

  • Has collected a 3.42 ERA in 17 appearances with 13 starts for the double-A affiliate in Harrisburg. Long has struck out 40 in his last 10 appearances with a 2.43 ERA. He had back-to-back outings of seven scoreless innings in wins over Richmond July 1 and Bowie July 6.
  • Before allowing two runs in the second on July 13 vs. Hartford, Long extended his scoreless innings streak to 20, tied for the ninth highest streak in Senators history.

Ronnie Dawson, Buies Creek Astros (Houston Astros)

  • Named a Carolina League All-Star in June after leading the league in walks and stolen bases.
  • Dawson has scored 46 runs with 15 doubles, 38 walks and 24 stolen bases and is hitting .243 in his second full season of pro ball.

Troy Montgomery, Lakeland Flying Tigers (Detroit Tigers)

  • After playing 48 games in double-A to begin the year, Montgomery is batting .368 in 17 games for Class-A advanced Lakeland Flying Tigers. He is hitting .471 (16-for-34) with five runs scored and six RBI in his last 10 games. Last night vs. Palm Beach, Montgomery kept swinging a hot bat, going 4-for-4 at the dish.
