COLUMBUS, Ohio – Fifteen former Buckeyes are concluding their 2017 professional seasons. It was an exciting year for the former Buckeyes. Brad Goldberg made his Major League debut with the Chicago White Sox, Drew Rucinski was named a Triple-A All-Star and Tanner Tully moved through the ranks and claimed a win for the Columbus Clippers last week. Troy Montgomery will be one of six Los Angeles Angels that will play for Scottsdale in the Arizona Fall League. In all, four Buckeyes saw action on MLB club teams this past summer. Brett McKinney also helped the Indianapolis Indians to a west division championship in the International League.

Alex Wimmers – Rochester Red Wings/Minnesota Twins

  • Stats (with Rochester Redwings): 37 G, 2-6, 2.57 ERA, 2 SV, 63.0 IP, 48 K
  • Made six appearances with Minnesota Twins: 4.91 ERA with seven strikeouts in 7.1 IP
  • Got the win against the Columbus Clippers Aug. 16, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts
  • Picked up the save in final game of the year, while striking out 20 in his final 17.1 innings of work

J.B. Shuck – Rochester Red Wings (Minnesota Twins)

  • Batted .292 in the month of June with six doubles, one triple, one home run and 10 RBI
  • Hit .283 at home with 10 doubles, two triples, two home runs and 18 RBI

Drew Rucinski – Rochester Red Wings/Minnesota Twins

  • Stats (with Rochester Redwings): 37 G, 2-6, 2.57 ERA, 2 SV, 63.0 IP, 57 K
  • Made two appearances for the Minnesota Twins
  • Had a 1.54 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 35.0 innings pitched to be named a Triple-A All-Star
  • Finished with career-best numbers at the Triple-A level in ERA (.2.57) and WHIP (1.02)

  • 2-0 with a 2.16 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 16.2 innings pitched in the month of May

  • Has struck out 16 in last 10 appearances
  • Helped guide the team to the 2017 Governors’ Cup Playoffs to take on the Durham Bulls

Jacob Bosiokovic, Asheville Tourists (Colorado Rockies)

  • Stats: .246, .380 OBP, .419 SLG, 24 2B, 15 HR, 54 RBI
  • Hit two home runs and nine doubles in the month of April
  • Blasted a two-run home run in the bottom of the tenth to give the Tourists a 3-1 walk-off win over Greenville April 13
  • Had an 11-game hit streak from June 16-June 29
  • Hit 13 home runs in the second half of the season with 45 RBI for a .511 slugging percentage

Tre’ Gantt played in 37 games for the Arizona Indians, slugging .316 with two doubles, three triples and two home runs, while scoring 15 runs. Jalen Washington played in the Northwest League for the Tri-City Dust Devils and knocked 10 doubles and three triples with eight RBI.
